Active Calm™
A Certified HeartMath® Student Mental Health Provider Program
Especially for School Counselors, Behavioral Specialists, Social Workers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and anyone who supports the well-being of youth.

Active Calm™
Professional certification from the HeartMath Institute
When students are dysregulated, learning stops. Behavior escalates. Progress stalls. Active Calm™ gives you the science-based tools and certification to change that — starting with yourself, and extending to every student you serve.
Active Calm™ brings that approach into a school-ready certification for professionals who need tools they can use in real settings, whether during a brief check-in, a small-group session, or ongoing student support.
Who This Is For
Active Calm™ is for adults who play a direct role in student support and success:

- School counselors, psychologists, and licensed mental health professionals.
- Teachers and classroom educators.
- Special education staff, occupational therapists, and intervention specialists.
- Social workers, mentors, and community youth workers.
- Administrators and program leaders building schoolwide capacity.

What You’ll Learn
This live or self-paced program includes 8 practitioner-focused modules designed to build practical skill and confident application.
Why Active Calm™ Works
Students who struggle with attention, anxiety, emotional reactivity or learning disabilities often experience nervous system dysregulation — not just defiance or disengagement
HeartMath’s decades of research on heart-brain communication and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) biofeedback have produced measurable results in schools: improved academic focus, reduced stress, better behavior, and stronger relationships between students and the adults who support them.
Active Calm™ brings that science into your hands — with tools fast enough for a five-minute check-in and flexible enough for individual sessions, small groups, or whole classrooms.
The Eight Core Learning Modules
Across eight modules, you’ll follow a dynamic, practice-centered journey that blends clear science, engaging stories, and real-world application in schools and youth programs.

Each module features concise core content—including video presentations by Dr. Sarah Geiger and experienced educators—supported by brief articles, colorful infographics, reflective worksheets, quick check-ins, and practicums where you test the tools directly with students and youth.
This simple rhythm of learn–reflect–practice, whether done live or self-paced, is designed to quickly grow your confidence in using regulation, coherence, and tiered-support approaches wherever young people gather.
