Student in India Finds His Focus With Power of Neutral®
Gautam, a student at a school in Subroto Park, New Delhi, India, had just finished his Class IX exams and he assumed he would be successful at the next level. Before Class X started, however, he said he lost his focus. "I spent my summer vacation chatting and on useless things."
His Class X first-term exams did not go well: "My results were terrible," Gautam said. "I failed in three subjects. That was very disappointing. One day my English teacher, Mrs. Mullika Shrivastava, called me aside and told me to practice HeartMath seriously." (Shrivastava has all of her students practice the Institute of HeartMath’s Power of Neutral® Tool for five minutes at the start of class.)
Gautam initially balked at the advice, then relented. "When I went back home, I realized my mistake and from the next day onward, I tried to improve myself and followed her advice. I started practicing HeartMath daily. My friends used to disturb me when I practiced it in class, but I had confidence and faith and I was not disturbed. … My second-term exams arrived. I did HeartMath five minutes before studying and then I took a break of five minutes every 40 minutes. Because of her advice, I cleared my second-term successfully."
Although some friends remained skeptical that the HeartMath tool was helping him in his classes, Gautam remained committed and said he received support from Shrivastava and encouragement from other students. "I stuck to my path and kept practicing it," he said. "Now I had a separate identify. Now I could make out what my teachers were saying. What they want us to be and what we should do. I got support from some of my classmates – Ranjeet, Prashant and Anandita."

"I cannot forget Mrs. Shrivastava. She is the one who inspired me. I think HeartMath should be taught to one and all, as it is the best method to become calm and composed in five minutes."
