The mission of the Institute of HeartMath is to help establish heart-based living and global coherence by inspiring people to connect with the intelligence and guidance of their own hearts.
Membership: Making a Statement
Membership with the Institute of HeartMath is a statement that heart-based living is important to you in a world that could use a genuine and new approach to managing the stresses of these difficult times and reducing the friction in our personal lives and the global community. Your membership is an important step toward living a life that is healthier, happier and more rewarding and reconnecting with your own heart. You can also take pride in knowing you are part of an organization that is working conscientiously every day to create a better world.
If living your life at an optimal level of personal coherence, in which your heart, brain and other bodily systems are in sync, is something you strive for, then membership with HeartMath makes perfect sense. As IHM explores the path toward and the possibilities of global coherence – the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of the greater community of human beings – our energies are focused on the individual – helping each person realize the joy and exhilarating rewards of personal coherence.
With your membership, you will stay informed about the exciting global shift that is happening now – a shift in the way people see themselves and relate to one another – and about the great adventure we are on to uplift ourselves and our planet through the intelligence and wisdom of our hearts.
The Institute of HeartMath, a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization, depends on the aid of people like you who understand the importance of supporting the efforts of those striving for a better world. We not only need and greatly appreciate your financial support, but your energetic support as well; the collective energy of the many thousands of people around the world who have expressed their sincere belief that work such as HeartMath’s is critical today, inspires our researchers, trainers, technologists and entire staff to pursue the dream of one day attaining personal and global coherence.
"The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others."
—Albert Schweitzer, 1875-1965, French doctor, philosopher, theologian, Nobel Prize recipient

Your contributions also support the future by providing the resources needed to conduct the kind of leading research that has earned HeartMath international respect in the scientific, educational and medical communities, among others. Donate now.
If you would like the convenience of spreading your contribution throughout the year by making them monthly, we invite you to set up your monthly contribution on our secure Web site at IHM Monthly Giving Option.
IHM researchers already are exploring beyond the boundaries of our common knowledge and perceptions about the relationship between our inner hearts and the world and universe around us. For example, IHM has shown through scientific investigation that the human heart actually receives intuitive information before the brain and we want to learn more about this hidden region of the "heart brain." We’re also researching the emerging field of emotional energetics in which scientists hypothesize that the heart’s powerful electromagnetic field, which can be detected outside the body – even in the brains of those around us – serves as a carrier of emotional information and mediator of bioelectromagnetic communication within and outside the body.
HeartMath’s Special Funds
IHM is especially proud of three fundraising efforts, the Global Coherence Monitoring System, Heart-Based Education Sponsorship Fund and HeartMath Military Service Appreciation Fund.
Global Coherence Monitoring System: The Institute of HeartMath needs your support for the Global Coherence Monitoring System (GCMS) fund and hopes you’ll share our interest and excitement as we explore a new frontier of communication.
IHM, in partnership with astrophysicist and nuclear scientist Elizabeth Rauscher, are collaborating to build an elaborate monitoring system to measure and explore fluctuations in the magnetic fields generated by the earth and ionosphere. Researchers hope to determine whether the earth’s field is influenced by or reflected in human heart-rhythm patterns or brain activity and whether this field can signal earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other planetary events. To learn more about GCMS or To make a contribution today.
Heart-Based Education Sponsorship Fund: Your financial contributions to this fund, launched in spring 2007, will help the Institute of HeartMath, a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization, put our life-changing educational programs such as TestEdge® and the Resilient Educator® and our scientifically developed and tested technology into the hands of students and teachers who otherwise would not have access to them.
Students will learn how positive emotions can improve learning and promote positive classroom and social behavior. Teachers not only will be equipped with highly effective tools to help students succeed, but they’ll also gain greater confidence and inspiration themselves. Military Service Appreciation Fund: Recognizing the tremendous hardships and psychological problems faced by troops returning from combat and the growing number of requests for HeartMath tools and technologies from our already overextended military and Veterans Administration facilities, IHM launched this fund in fall 2007. HeartMath staff who have worked with doctors, psychologists, physical therapists and clinicians in a number of VA and military facilities, reported very good results using IHM tools and techniques and the emWave® Personal Stress Reliever and emWave® PC/Mac Stress Relief System (formerly the Freeze-Framer®). Soldiers have regained emotional balance, physiological functioning and greater ease fitting back into civilian life.
With your generous donations, a trained staff person can introduce HeartMath tools and emWave technology to a veteran, who can then use these on his or her own and perhaps share it with their families. Troops can even use it before they deploy to develop emotional resiliency skills and help prevent developing post-traumatic stress syndrome.
