INTRODUCTION: The Institute of HeartMath instills compassion, confidence and inspiration in students and teachers by giving them effective tools for achieving positive classroom outcomes. Students learn positive classroom and social behavior and how to manage emotions, respect others’ viewpoints and make responsible decisions. The Heart-Based Education Sponsorship Fund provides financial assistance to students and teachers who otherwise would not have access to HeartMath’s life-changing programs, tools and technology.
Teachers
Teachers and other educators play an integral role in teaching and promoting the emotional development that help children academically and socially. The Institute of HeartMath trains teachers, administrators and support staff how to balance and manage emotions, build resiliency and rekindle their motivation.
Youth
When youth connect with the intelligence of their hearts, they acquire the essential life skills of understanding and managing what they feel. Emotional knowledge and self-regulation stimulate confidence and compassion for others and are the central focus of HeartMath’s learning programs, which help lower test anxiety and raise academic performance.
Teens
The Institute of HeartMath offers many tools, techniques and learning programs to help reduce stress and test anxiety and dramatically improve test scores and overall academic performance. Our teen programs are specially designed to help students understand and manage their perceptions and emotional reactions to life, thereby promoting healthy, positive choices.
Counseling
Professional counselors help students handle daily challenges, and HeartMath programs aid them in this important work by training them how to renew, revitalize and listen more effectively without draining energy reserves. This training improves counselors’ abilities to help students practice emotion refocusing, regulation and restructuring, so they can make smarter choices.
Pre-K Kids
Children’s learning prior to formal education profoundly influences performance in school and their entire lives. Research shows early acquisition of social and emotional skills is essential to classroom success. HeartMath’s fun and engaging programs and products for children, ages 3-6, build a strong foundation by teaching teach simple, but effective skills.
Special Education
HeartMath programs have helped special-education students improve attitudes, behavior, self-regulation, social skills and classroom focus and participation. HeartMath technologies have aided teachers, counselors and school psychologists in working with ADHD, gifted and handicapped students to build self-security.
Classroom Environments
Children are pressured to excel academically. IHM programs, grades 3-12, for regular classrooms, breakout groups and after school, lessen this pressure by teaching the connection between emotions, health and performance in and outside the classroom. Students learn to minimize emotional turmoil, anger and depression, thus promoting healthy behavior and psychological well-being.

Your financial support also will help equip teachers with highly effective tools to help their students succeed.

Learning and Performance Testimonials
Classrooms, schools and students are benefiting in a big way from the products and programs sponsored by HeartMath’s Education Scholarship Program. Here’s what some of our awardees have to say:
"Today, all fourth-graders in the great state of Florida sat down to take Florida Writes, our annual writing exam. About halfway through the 45 minutes time, I saw one of my rambunctious little boys put down his pencil, close his eyes, put his hand on his heart and takes his breaths. As I watched him, I could see the tension lift and his shoulders relax. When he was finished about a minute or two later, he picked up his pencil and got back to work. I wish I’d had tape rolling. Additionally, my kids are always reporting that they’re seeing other kids Freeze-Framing before or during tests in other classes. It makes me proud."
– Amanda Travis Simon, fourth-grade math/language arts teacher
