Institute of HeartMath Resources for Parents

Teens: Ages 12-18+

INTRODUCTION: Throughout the years between ages 12 and 18, girls and boys experience great mental, emotional and physical change related to maturity into adulthood. Parents know their children are establishing their own identities and becoming more independent. Peer pressure increases. Classes often are more difficult and demanding. Relationships turn serious and complicated.

This is also a time when your children’s abilities for complex thinking and expression of feelings expand, making it an excellent time for connecting with the heart and the heart’s qualities and acquiring skills for building energy and resilience for the busy years head.

A wonderful free tool for helping young people ease through the challenges involving relationships, school and much more can be found at Quick Coherence® Technique for Ages 12-18.

Test Prep: By high school, your children typically are on track for college. Most participate in school activities and are preparing early for SAT’s and ACT’s. Many take college courses and frequently have after-school and weekend jobs. Life has never been busier.

The Institute of HeartMath’s extensive research into the physiology of emotions and learning shows all of this activity can cause your children’s anxiety to increase dramatically. A major source of worry is what researchers call test anxiety. HeartMath’s TestEdge® Interactive Learning Programs incorporate two decades of research to help bridge emotions and academics for your teen’s success.
