Goals, Activities & Expected Results

The following examples show language tied to Institute of HeartMath products that can be used in a grant application.

  1. Goal: Provide teachers with skills and knowledge in test preparation, including stress management, academic focus, test-question strategies, healthy habits of sleep and nutrition, and optimal attitudes and motivation, so that they can enable their students to actualize higher levels of performance in academic work and on high-stakes tests. Activity: Students participate in either elementary-level TestEdge or secondary-level TestEdge for 15 to 25 sessions. Expected Result: Students will demonstrate lower levels of stress and anxiety and show greater focus and levels of performance on high-stakes tests and in academic work.
  2. Goal: Provide teachers with skills and knowledge to help students boost their thinking and problem-solving skills. Activity: Utilize HeartMath products and technology with students over a minimum of fifteen consecutive days. Expected Result: Students will show increased creativity, analytical skills, and motivation in daily classroom work.
  3. Goal: Provide skills and knowledge for teachers of academically at-risk students to help them improve motivation, self-discipline, and participation in classroom work. Activity: Utilize HeartMath products and technology with students over a minimum of fifteen consecutive days. Expected Result: Students will demonstrate improvements in classroom work, greater classroom participation, and more time on task in subject material.
  4. Goal: Provide teachers with the skills, knowledge, and technology necessary to help students gain greater impulse control, anger management, and ability to resolve conflict. Activity: Utilize HeartMath products and technology with students over a minimum of fifteen consecutive days. Expected Result: Decreases in referrals, incidents of discipline, and peer conflict.
  5. Goal: Provide teachers with instructional materials that foster a greater understanding of the physiology of learning and how it impacts classroom learning. Activity: Have teachers attend a professional development training on HeartMath products and skills or individually read and review products with guidance from a HeartMath educational adviser. Expected Result: Teachers will employ methodologies and strategies that evoke greater student motivation, learning, and participation based on principles from neuroscience research.
